Kennebunk, Kennebunk Beach, Kennebunkport
Relocation Guide
The population of Kennebunk and
Kennebunkport swells during the warm
sunny months of July and August with
vacationers and seasonal visitors who
own summer cottages or rent seaside
homes here. But the Kennebunkers that
live here year round get to enjoy the
charms and scenic beauty of these
seaside towns to their fullest.
If
you love Kennebunkport, you should
consider living in Kennebunkport or
neighboring Kennebunk, Cape Porpoise,
West Kennebunk or Arundel. These five
communities comprise “The Kennebunks.”
Most people only know of Kennebunkport,
thanks in large part to the Bush family
in their Walkers Point compound who
certainly helped put Kennebunkport
International map. Ironically most of
the beaches people flock to
Kennebunkport to enjoy are actually in
Kennebunk, as are many of the
restaurants and inns.
A little known fact, business owners on
the Kennebunk side of the river often
use an esteemed Kennebunkport PO Box
addresses – the zip code of 04046 is
like the Beverly Hills 90210 of Maine.
Residents
of the Kennebunks have ocean views and
beach walks as part of their daily life.
The quality of life in Kennebunkport is
exceptional, low crime rates, clean air,
quiet and clean streets, friendly people
and convenient shopping, dining and
entertainment – often within a short
walk or a bike ride. Kennebunkport's
year round residents have the best of
both worlds, the hustle and bustle in
the summer when Dock Square is bursting
with entertainment and every business is
thriving, which is followed by the
quieter fall, winter and spring when the
locals have the place to themselves and
a 2 minute drive across town is a 2
minute drive across town.
Kennebunk and Kennebunkport have an
excellent school system K-12, known as
RSU-21 with several modern schools and
New England accreditation for both
Advanced Placement studies and
International Baccalaureate – one of few
school systems in New England to achieve
that high standard of teaching and
scholastics. The Kennebunks are very
family oriented from the school systems
top academics and athletics, to a very
popular and Parks and Recreation program
with after school and school vacation
activities for kids, families, teens and
even senior citizens. There are even
organized activities centered around the
local retirement communities and
advanced care facilities and nursing
homes in Kennebunk.
Kennebunk
has its own skateboard park, bridle
paths and bike paths, several state of
the art fitness clubs, excellent medical
facilities and plenty of convenient
shopping from major grocery, hardware
and drug stores to weekly farmers’
markets and great chef owned restaurants
with local specials.
When you are considering relocating to
Kennebunk or Kennebunkport, you will
find many diverse job occupations – some
work from home, others commute 30
minutes to Portland or Portsmouth (each
just a half hour’s drive). Still others
commute the 1.5 hours to the Boston
area. The Kennebunks make a great bed
base, with a variety of homes from small
and affordable to large, waterfront
mansions.
